Young Scholar Initiative
Saint Catherine’s Vision's Young Scholar Initiative showcases the work of one or two dedicated Orthodox Christians each year who are striving toward the “building up of the body of Christ.”
Presbytera Athanasia Mellos Kostakis, LMSW, DMin was our first Young Scholar. She conducted research for her Doctor of Ministry project thesis, which was a qualitative confidential study of Orthodox Lay Ministry experience and resilience in the United States, for Boston University.
She was first highlighted at our Divine Compassion and Women of the Church: Theological Perspectives conference in June 2014 and was enthusiastically received by conference participants. She successfully defended her thesis and received her doctorate on May 1, 2018 from BU. We congratulate her and pray for God's blessings in her continued ministry.

"Let us praise Catherine the radiant bride of Christ, guardian of Sinai, our helper and supporter. By the power of the Spirit, she silenced the arrogance of the ungodly. Crowned as a martyr, she now implores great mercy for all."
